Though James has never taken any such pay cuts. This is one of the possibilities that can help the Lakers build a more balanced roster for the next season. As of now, the Lakers are just short of surpassing the second apron which would’ve prevented them from trading draft picks or players. The franchise does come under a high-spending team. But considering LeBron asking for a worthy three to four-year deal, the Lakers should be concerned. Opting out of a $50+ million option is not a normal decision. However for James, if he demands a new contract, he will be looking at similar pay annually. However this time, the tenure will be longer. If James is looking to spend a good enough time, he might play till he’s 42. A three-year deal worth over $140 million is what matches James’ value. Of course, the all-time scoring leader is one of the most versatile in the league and is worth the big bag. The Lakers might have to make some adjustments this offseason. As tight of a situation as this might seem after James decided to opt-out, the franchise should consider the brighter side. They have an attractive squad that will fill the seats. Bronny, LeBron, and Redick have been the highlight in LA. Not only that but along with the front office, fans as well as critics also have quite some expectations from the new head coach.
